A Delightful Visit - Louis Renzo, CEO of Scalamandre

One of my favorite things about being in the design business are the relationships. Both with our clients and our vendors. The design community and its countless suppliers consist of many amazing family owned and operated companies that labor in the pursuit of excellence in their respective genres. Whether it be furniture, carpet, tile, lighting, textiles, etc... learning about a great line - its journey and history and the people behind it, are something I always look forward to in the weekly assortment of things I do. It helps us be adept at painting with their "colors" and it would be impossible to create the spaces we compose without these valued relationships. In our Los Angeles studio today we had the honor of a visit from our So. Cal Rep Karin Klein and the President & CEO of Scalamandre, Mr. Louis Renzo. Scalamandre, founded in 1929 always brings a reverent sigh from designers. Aside from residential sales, the world renowned fabric, wallcovering, trim and furnishings maker is famous for its work in the restoration of period textiles. Counted among projects it has contributed to: Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, Mount Vernon, Winterthur, and the Mansions of Newport.

I have always loved Scalamandre and I truly enjoyed learning about their newest collections today. They have been able to stay true to their archival roots but also offer re-imagined stylings for today's demand for a cleaner more sophisticated design aesthetic. Here's to learning and building the relationships that help us create!
