The Helms Bakery

A glorious afternoon spent exploring the recently renovated Helms Bakery District in LA. This landmark building nestled in the heart of West Los Angeles first opened its doors in 1931 and for over 4 decades was home to the bakery and its legion of trucks that would supply local residents with fresh-baked goods "delivered daily to your door". I remember the oatmeal cookies we would line up to get when the truck bell would sound coming down our street when I was little. It was truly a slice of bygone LA Style - Americana. Today the district boasts a unique collection of ateliers, design shops and home furnishings stores as well as great eateries. It's one of our very favorite destinations for enjoying a day at work in LA!
